QBIIK - Project for the Further Development of Mobile Grippers

PROJECT QBIIK FOR THE FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF MOBILE GRIPPERS

Cooperation with other institutes and industrial partners is important in order to exchange knowledge and to be able to test technologies for marketability and possible difficulties in industrial use. The QBIIK project is doing so by aiming to test a logistics system. Here, a vehicle orients itself autonomously in space and reaches for the required goods. The gripping process is supported by tactile proximity sensors developed at the IPR. If the desired goods are not detected, the system requests human assistance, allowing the operator to take control for a short time. QBIIK learns from humans and performs the work step independently in the future.

Project partners in this project, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, are the IPR, the Institute for Materials Handling and Logistics Systems (IFL), BAER Automation GmbH, STILL GmbH and Audi Sport GmbH.
