Founderpitch

Five founding teams in the (pre-)start-up phase had the chance to present their business ideas at the NEULAND Innovation Day. They had four minutes to convince potential investors, mentors and industry partners. The jury and audience then selected the winners, who were announced during the evening event. You can read which teams were able to convince in the follow-up report.

Founderteam axxelera

axxelera

The start-up axxelera produces ultra-high-density peptide arrays: using patented manufacturing technology, 300,000 customer-definable peptides are synthesized on a 76 mm x 25 mm glass chip. Pharmaceutical researchers need these screening tools for researching diseases and developing new drugs.

The axxelera arrays provide 10 times more information than before and expand the range of applications to include cell and bacterial screening. The founders will sell the arrays directly, targeting research centers in particular. They also plan to offer a screening service as an information service, targeting mainly big pharma companies.

Heisenberg Quantum Simulations

Heisenberg develops algorithms for the prediction of molecular properties for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. The Heisenberg software can be used on conventional computers as well as on existing and future quantum computers. This can significantly accelerate their customers' development processes and increase their understanding of chemical and physical relationships. Thus, new processes and products can be realized faster. Quantum computers will fundamentally change the research and development of materials and drugs. ...

Heisenberg enables its customers to benefit from the opportunities and minimize the risks of change - through information, pilot projects and quantum simulation of molecules and processes.

µyPrint

Personalized medicine requires methods that are fast, flexible and easy to handle. In biological research, too, the need for experiments that form the basis for future biosensors is increasing.
Hundreds of research groups worldwide have open questions that they could answer with structured surfaces at the micro- and nanoscale. Existing lab-on-a-chip products, however, are static and offer only a narrow range of applications. We have developed a printer that combines various established methods for generating micro- and nanostructures. ...

Our "myPal" system is fast in sample production, flexible in application and easy to operate, while offering high scaling potential. The printer covers the need for established bio- and nanotechnological applications to generate complex surface patterns from various substances, especially bioactive substances such as proteins, antibodies, peptides or polymers and nanoparticles. The latter even enable the writing of electronic structures. In addition to our main product myPal, we offer our customers a broad service portfolio, consumables and out-of-the-box kits for the creation of numerous chips.

Nesto Software GmbH

Full restaurant, overworked staff and the food is taking a long time to arrive - who doesn't know this from many catering businesses? The cause is usually that staffing levels are too low. But if the branch management plans its staff too generously, the payroll flies up in its face at the end of the month or employees are sent home before the shift even starts. The young Karlsruhe-based start-up Nesto solves precisely this problem with an intelligent software solution for demand-oriented workforce scheduling. Nesto maps the entire workforce planning process in a software solution. Based on an automatic demand forecast, personnel bottlenecks or overstaffing already become visible during planning and can be avoided with the help of concrete suggestions for action. ...

Nesto thus optimizes staff utilization and increases planning reliability. This leads to increases in sales, employee satisfaction and service quality - without negatively impacting product quality.

Usertimes

Usertimes is a technology-oriented start-up from Karlsruhe, Germany, with the goal of integrating user tests directly into the development process of digital products. The motivation behind this is to constantly improve the usability and user experience of existing and future digital offerings. To this end, the founders want to automate repetitive usability testing processes that currently eat up resources such as time and manpower. This way, they can relieve product managers, designers, product owners and UX experts of redundant work when performing user tests. The responsible teams can save valuable resources and use them ...

to optimize the product - with the help of the knowledge gained in the tests. In the long term, processes can be accelerated and simplified in this way. In order to be able to carry out tests with real users, which are fast and agile, the tests take place online on the user's device. Usertimes claims to always think one step ahead: the start-up not only shows where users of digital offerings have problems, but also why.
