WHAT BECAME OF... “PHABIOC”
Technologically, the SpecPlate relies on a novel, patented structure: four step-like measuring points per measuring structure enable a significant reduction in the sample volume per measurement. Closed measuring chambers with different channel heights allow measurements in a wide concentration range without the need for dilution series. With a sample volume of 36 microlitres per chamber, the SpecPlate optimizes the use of resources and prevents the influence of liquid menisci or pipetting inaccuracies. At the same time, it fits seamlessly into existing laboratory workflows as it adheres to standard dimensions for laboratory systems. “The SpecPlate addresses the error-proneness and limitations of the gold standard and combines its advantages. The SpecPlate is the better standard,” says Dr. Carsten Radtke, CSO of PHABIOC GmbH.
In addition to its functionality, the SpecPlate also offers ecological benefits: Due to the new plate design, less plastic is required than with conventional multiwell plates. The SpecPlate therefore helps to reduce plastic waste, which is a major problem in laboratories in particular. The SpecPlate sets new standards in plate-based UV/Vis spectroscopy in pharmaceutical and biotech research by improving efficiency and precision while significantly reducing material consumption. This makes laboratory processes more effective and sustainable. PHABIOC already received positive feedback from pilot customers during the pilot phase, including some of the leading pharmaceutical companies. An important milestone has now been reached with series production. An exciting example of how cutting-edge research finds its way into practice.
